Why are relationships so important? At the end of the day, that’s all we have in life. We’re way beyond a microwave society where everything at our fingertips occurs in milliseconds. AI advancing farther faster, and you lose track of your monthly subscriptions. I’m fine with convenience. I’m not fine with the lost art of having face-to-face conversations. Scott and I have built our reputations on relationships and being face-to-face. Sure, we can optimize time using video calls and conferencing. We’ve often said, however, your friends aren’t on Facebook, your connections aren’t on LinkedIn, and you can’t have a conversation on X/Twitter and you sure as hell can’t build a substantive relationship over a computer screen. We adapt to the everchanging technology, and we overcome our stubbornness to meet you where you are.
We intentionally invest the time to build relationships to learn the person. We want to know about your journey, what you stand for and if we can stand with you in that space. People will show you who they truly are if you simply give them enough time to. We’re often asked, ‘what’s the craziest thing you’ve seen in M&A?’ The answer is NSFW and we’re no longer surprised how people behave. We want to know if we can trust our reputation in engaging you, your business and your family in a business case. It’s no different in you investing time in us to see if we’re worthy to be invited to come alongside you and help you through it.
There’s no secret formula, no silver bullet. Time is the greatest currency and we’re looking for people who believe in what we believe in. We’re looking for people who we can have their backs even if they don’t have ours quite yet so we can prove our mettle. When we have common ground, then we have something uncommon – a foundation of trust and respect we can build upon delivering generational wealth for you and your family. Only then, will we ask you if having a more strategic conversation makes sense to you.
Maybe you think it’s too early to consider your options and maybe some of you are on the fence. When do you think the best time to plant a tree is? We’re happy to sit on the sidelines, watch your progress and maintain our relationship with you. There’s 33 million SME (small and medium enterprises) out there yet less than 1 million of them ever see $10MM revenue; or you’re stuck on $25MM and need an injection of cash to fund your next level of growth. Would you like to get there? JSP is full-service business advisory for owners helping you to grow and scale. We want to see you grow smart to sell smart, and we’re looking for people to invest time in. We want to understand your history, your product set, your differentiation, how do you win, how do you lose, get a feel for your people and your customers, your sales motion, where you are in your business lifecycle and project two years out.
If you want unbiased information, we’ll share that with you, why we feel that way and offer our years of experience. If you simply want to meet knowing now isn’t the time to sell and gauge what your options are, we’ll share that information also. If you want us to check-in with you in 6 – 12 months, we’ll do that. The best possible advice for you currently is gather information, take what you want and leave the rest. When the time is right, you want to be the most attractive opportunity at the dance, and we’ll help you get there and not ahead of your skis.
