6 Base Hits for Your Business

It’s the top of the 8th inning; the score’s tied and you’re ready for the big one! Years have turned into decades and father time is suggesting you may be ready for a new season in life. You’ve witnessed the greatest technological advances over the past fifty years and information overload is a reality. Twenty- and thirty-somethings appear more interested in information consumption than applying critical thinking with high-value decision making. Maybe now is the time for you to lead with purpose one more time. Six base hits in leading your field of dreams:

Debrief Everything. Every day, commit to tackling one issue or situation whether it was a success or a failure, scrutinize it and apply that insight tomorrow.

Trust the Team. Connect regularly whether it’s biweekly, every three weeks, etc., with each direct as well as whomever holds you accountable and has your back. You can’t see every blind spot.

Visualize Success. Mentally prepare by rehearsing every high-pressure intense situation when you’re off the field to sharpen your performance on the field.

Relentless Focus. Ensure everyone is aligned to your goals and objectives – it’s YOUR business. Train your focus to influence one person at a time.

Manage the Numbers. What gets measured, gets done and coach behaviors to improve performance. Respond with intent and not emotion.

Control the Controlables. Minimize consumption and distractions by working with clarity to free up mental capacity, respond appropriately and act accordingly. Do, delegate, defer, dump.

There are no secrets, only solutions to fundamental problems. Be disciplined and excellent at the fundamentals. It’s consistency that breeds repeatable success. Teach, coach and train your team to perform with scorched earth around. Your life’s work is your single greatest asset and it’s time to capitalize on its maximum value.

“The one constant through all the years, Ray, has been baseball. America has rolled by like an army of steamrollers. It’s been erased like a blackboard, rebuilt and erased again. But baseball has marked the time.” – James Earl Jones, Field of Dreams
